The material which has been used to produce fins is synthetic rubber with a trade name “golden-plast” which belongs to the group of thermoplastic elastomers. The main ingredient in its production is synthetic rubber of SBS type / styrene – butadiene - styrene/.
A modern material made to eliminate rubber from the market which was so far the main material used to produce fins. Rubber contains large quantities of sulphur, heavy metals and phthalates but its main disadvantage is an irreversible process of hardening (vulcanization), after which it becomes a disposable product without any possibility of recycling. This is the reason why all over the world piles of worn out tyres come into being and nobody knows what to do with them. Our rubber, on the other hand, does not contain sulphur, heavy metals, phthalates or any substances recognized as toxic. It is a plastic destined to be recycled thanks to which it can be used numerous times. In a version that is modified with another types of rubber and polyolefin it is used to produce technical wares. Thanks to these modifications it gains valuable advantages like: high resistance to weather conditions, matt surface, resistance to repeated bending in room temperature as well as sub – zero temperatures.
According to its destination, materials produced on the basis of elastomers are destined to bend, press, stretch and undergo all other challenges issued to rubber throughout years. “Golden – plast” does not lose its properties in large range of temperatures. The only disadvantage of “golden – plast” is its price which is over twice bigger than the price of a simple rubber. This is the reason why it is still not introduced to all branches of industry, but it systematically displaces rubber. “Golden – plast” is resistant to most acids but it is not resistant to mineral oil.
The latest computer technologies based on vectorial 3D designing were used to design fins. This technology has been available on Polish market only for a few years but it is a turning point in designing big block objects. Alibre Design was used to shape blocks and SprutCAM by NewTech solutions to set trajectories.
